Though there is no 'official opening' date that I've seen, the new pool in the main pool complex with two long slides is complete, filled with water and ready to go. There will likely have open dates for pool use prior to the 'grand opening' celebration. The new pool is along the bay in what is now Harborside Village on the north end of the resort. The building directly behind the pool is timeshare units. I've seen photos and they did a very a nice job.
The main pool complex is limited to those paying the resort fee - either booked accommodations thru the resort or paying the resort fee directly to the resort for condos and homes rented thru owners and agencies. Pool access associated with timeshare rentals, exchanges, etc, will vary according to the individual agreements that each of the timeshare groups has with the resort. For many it's included and for others there is a reduced daily fee. If you have kids, this will be THE pool they want to play in - including those big kids know as husbands.
Also for those 'big kids', the short course (9 holes) at South Seas was named to the top 100 short courses in the US. I don't play myself, but it is lovely. Golfers complain it's easy, others enjoy the relaxing and beautiful play. Should construction go ahead on single family homes and condos planned along the Gulf, some of the views will be lost, but not all. Give it a whirl!
Thanks for this exciting news, Tour! I've been wondering when the kids pool was going to open. I'll be on Captiva next week and will definately check it out!
Ok so I finally got to stop by the new kids pool- it is very nice and lots of people enjoying the new area. The main feature is a very large slide. It also has 0 entry on one side. And the landscaping around it is gorgeous - lots of sand and palm trees- makes you feel like you are sitting on the beach!
By the way, the weather has been tremendous- lots of sunshine and 80 degree weather. I'm feeling bad for all those up north getting more snow today!
